Outdoor Regulation Exploration
Grounding Ourselves.
Real skills. Real terrain. Real regulation. Basecamp NW offers structured outdoor programming designed to build confidence and self-regulation through practical experience in the field.
View ClassesWhat Is Basecamp NW
Outdoor environments as regulation tools
Basecamp NW is the outdoor programming division of a three-entity structure built around neurodivergent-informed support. The premise is straightforward: structured time outside, with real objectives and clear skill targets, is one of the most effective regulation tools available.
Programming is open to neurodivergent individuals and the general public. There are no prerequisites beyond a willingness to show up and engage. Activities range from NRA-certified firearms instruction to guided hiking and camping, with more in development.
Participants come here to do something real. That distinction shapes everything about how Basecamp NW operates.
Current & Planned Programming
What we offer
Guided Regulation Day
A structured day out in a natural setting — parks, hot springs, trails, or wherever the session calls for. Dan serves as an outdoor regulation companion: present, attentive, and holding the space without directing it. Intentional time in the field with someone who knows how to move through it with you. Priced and scheduled individually.
Camping Trips
Overnight group experiences in structured, supported outdoor settings. Clear schedule, shared objectives, and enough space for everyone to regulate in their own way. Expanding to include participant transportation as programming scales.
Structured Group Outings
Group experiences built around a shared activity — a walk in the woods, axe throwing, a day at the range, board games, paintball, or whatever fits the group. The activity is the structure. Regulation is what happens inside it. Scheduled and priced per event.
Firearms Safety and Marksmanship
NRA Basic Pistol and NRA Basic Rifle courses, plus customized training and skill-building sessions. All instruction delivered by a certified NRA instructor. Additional disciplines including concealed carry are in development. $100 per class. Scheduled and communicated individually.
Why Outdoor
The case for going outside
Outdoor environments, structured skill-building, and physical activity serve as regulation tools — actual tools, not metaphors for growth.
Basecamp NW programming is built around the premise that regulation happens through the body, not just the mind. When a person learns to handle a firearm safely, navigate a trail, or set up camp, they are practicing the same core skills that transfer to every other regulated environment: attention management, sequential task execution, sensory calibration, and tolerating uncertainty.
This programming is structured and supportive. Participants come to build real skills in real environments. That clarity is built into every activity we run.
Who It's For
Built for everyone. Designed to actually work.
Basecamp NW is open to everyone. Neurodivergent individuals and the general public participate in the same programming, in the same spaces, with the same expectations. The structure is clear, the environment is predictable, and the activities are real — which tends to work well for most people regardless of how their brain operates.
No prior experience is required for any current programming. Participants are treated as capable adults who are here to do something.
