Neurodiverse Inclusive Solutions - Sensory Room Tour
This video was recorded during the Night to Shine event at Salem Alliance Church, which hosts three permanent sensory rooms designed to support guests with sensory processing differences during a large-scale, high-stimulation celebration.
The tour covers two dedicated sensory rooms and the broader event environment. The contrast is intentional. Some spaces are calm, open, and low-stimulation. Others are filled with decor, sparkles, and energy. Both exist in the same building, for the same guests, at the same time.
That range is the point. Sensory-inclusive design does not mean quiet rooms tucked in a corner. It means building environments where people can move between spaces based on what their nervous system needs in the moment, without having to leave.
This is the model behind The Nest, a sensory-inclusive community hub proposed for Salem Center Mall.
